  1. Superintendent Update – Chris Sorrell
    • Chris started 2/16 after more than 1 year at Stonebriar Country Club. He has 13 years’ experience in turf and course management with an education from Penn State University
    • Chris will continue weekly course updates to members via email
    • Stakes for “In and Out” cart access to be implemented at Ranch – working with Delmar to complete. No timeline yet.
    • Improving rotation of carts to balance load and be sure “fresh” batteries are used. “Cotton”, one of the Ranch cart staff, will now assume charge of carts at both clubs.

  2. Tournaments’ Schedule
    • Discuss any upcoming tournaments or updates
    1. JD Darling updated tournament changes for the MGA (Legends Tournament scheduled for 2/2/19 followed that evening by the MGA Kickoff Dinner).
    2. RLGA and 9 Hole had no additional updates > both will report at the next meeting
    3. Jerry Obenour to work with Chris Sorrell to coordinate green maintenance and the SMGA fall tournament.

  1. Discuss Golf Committee focus areas
    • Communication
      1. Hills website available through Golf Genius. Maintaining updated content and communicating site availability and access are the largest issues.  Chris Ferguson has taken the action to make this happen (with Jerry’s help as needed). Expect a report out at the next meeting.
    • Handicap/Rules Committee
      1. Jerry proposed one committee to handle both Dye and Ranch. Chris F. agreed. Jerry will be approaching the heads of each golf group to ask for potential Handicap/Rules committee members.
      2. Jerry has a brochure of “What this type of committee does” from the USGA and will use as a guideline for our committee
      3. Communication to members approach will be determined after the committee is formed
    • Communicate to Board of Governors Capital Needs
      1. Hills bathrooms to be renovated in 2019 but schedule is to be determined

  2. Pro Shop Update – Amber Lynch/Chris Ferguson
    • Although Amber is currently officed at the Dye, she will continue to coordinate Ranch tournaments and meetings
    • Chris is reviewing staffing and may add an additional Assistant Pro and outside services person.
    • Club is spending $30k for new range balls starting in mid-February and will deliver new balls to both the Dye and Ranch on an every other month basis. Old balls will be sorted and the better ones will be used for chipping greens while the worst will be discarded.
    • Chris Sorrell is looking at repairing, replacing and adding bunker rakes.
  3. Round Table –
    • Cart path only sign on 15 is directly in front of the women’s tee box and needs to be moved.
    • As mentioned previously, carts dying in the afternoon being addressed by the new cart rotation plan
